Important Mcare Refund Information for Pennsylvania Policyholders

Apr 21, 2015

In 2014, a settlement was reached regarding the Mcare Fund requiring that $200 million be returned to physicians, hospitals and other health care providers who pay assessments into the Fund.

Notices for the refund will begin to be mailed sometime in the fall of 2015. THERE IS NO ACTION REQUIRED FOR PHYSICIANS WHO PAID THEIR OWN ASSESSMENTS DIRECTLY TO THE FUND.

Refund notices to physicians will be mailed to the address on file with the State Board of Medicine or the State Board of Osteopathic Medicine. Medical practices should make sure their address with the Pennsylvania Corporation Bureau is correct. If you paid the assessment for another health care provider, you will need to fill out the Claim or Assignment of Refund Request Form. For complete details, visit the Mcare Refund information site or the Mcare Refund page sponsored by our partners at Pennsylvania Medical Society.
