PPM Services, the holding company for Preferred Physicians Medical Risk Retention Group, Inc. (PPM), industry-leading provider of medical professional liability insurance for anesthesia practices, today announced the signing of a definitive agreement to be acquired by NORCAL Mutual Insurance Company (NORCAL). The acquisition of PPM Services will result in a partnership between NORCAL and PPM that will expand PPM’s anesthesia footprint and establish a Midwest presence to further support NORCAL’s national expansion.
NORCAL Mutual Insurance Company’s national expansion continues with the approval to offer physicians in Utah NORCAL’s medical professional liability insurance (MPLI) policy that includes extensive protection for cyber liability and data breaches. The addition of Utah extends NORCAL’s national footprint to 31 states.
Jason Gingerich has joined NORCAL Mutual Insurance Company as Vice President and Treasurer.

This is the latest phase in NORCAL’s multi-year national expansion to strategically enter new markets and transition policyholders from subsidiary companies to NORCAL Mutual. Medicus Insurance Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of NORCAL Mutual, has been offering coverage to physicians in Iowa since 2008 and Washington since 2011.
