NORCAL Mutual Insurance Company has been recognized with two Awards of Excellence by the Insurance Marketing and Communications Association (IMCA). NORCAL was honored for its “Guide Guard Advocate” advertising campaign and its “Year of You” 2014 Annual Report.

“We are excited to be recognized by our peers for this range of work that reflects our focus on our policyholders,” said Joy Corso, vice president of marketing and communications at NORCAL Mutual. “It is a tremendous honor to showcase the exceptional work produced by our in-house team.”

IMCA’s Showcase Awards recognize outstanding marketing and communications in the insurance industry in 32 categories that include advertising, annual reports, corporate social media, interactive, marketing communications and public relations.

The NORCAL Mutual Board of Directors met for the Annual Meeting of Members on Saturday, June 4 in San Francisco, CA. During the Annual Meeting, members re-elected four Class 2 Directors to serve a three-year term until the Annual Meeting of Members to be held in 2019 including Fabiola Cobarrubias, MD, Roger Hayashi, MD, Jaan Sidorov, MD, and Scott Syphax.

NORCAL Mutual Insurance Company’s Pennsylvania-based wholly-owned subsidiary, PMSLIC Insurance Company, has been renamed NORCAL Specialty Insurance Company, pending additional regulatory approvals. NORCAL Specialty is the NORCAL Group’s surplus lines carrier.

Andre Stewart has been named Chief Underwriting Officer for NORCAL Mutual Insurance Company, the flagship of the NORCAL Group of companies, which includes, Medicus Insurance Company, FD Insurance Company and NORCAL Specialty Insurance Company (formerly PMSLIC).

NORCAL Mutual Insurance Company, one of the largest medical professional liability insurance companies in the nation based on direct written premium, has begun offering coverage to physicians in Mississippi, North Carolina and Ohio. NORCAL now protects physicians and health care professionals in 21 states.

Timothy Smith has been named the new Senior Vice President of Claims for NORCAL Mutual Insurance Company, one of the top medical professional liability insurance (MPLI) companies in the country.

A.M. Best, the most widely recognized rating agency for the insurance industry, has assigned an “A” (Excellent) rating for FD Insurance Company after the completed acquisition by NORCAL Mutual Insurance Company.
